How to return items to a store

In many countries it is difficult to return an item to a store after you paid for it. Usually it's easy in the United States and you don't need a big reason. Maybe it's the wrong size, wrong color, buttons fell off or you simply changed your mind and don't want it.

Here is what you need-

1) The sales receipt, a small piece of paper that shows when you bought it and how much you paid
2) If you lost the sales receipt the store may give you credit or a gift card to their store for other purchases
3) If you used a credit card to buy it, the store needs your card to give you a refund. If you paid by cash or debit card, the store clerk will give you cash back. Sometimes you must sign a new receipt which says they refunded the money to you, its fine to sign it.

4) Try to return it no more than 10-30 days after you paid for it.

If you have the original tags and the store bag, it's better. If it goes on sale after you bought it you might only get the sales price back, not the full amount you paid.
