I'm Latino Proud!
My 4th and 5th grade Hispanic students continuously impress me with their bilingual abilities and willingness to learn two cultures simultaneously. Recently they wrote Haiku poems using both English and Spanish words using the topic " I am Latino Proud". Today I asked them to free write their thoughts on being proud of their culture and who they are.

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm Yamilet and I love being "Latino Proud" because you get to do and eat different foods like Tacos,Burritos,and other things. Also I think that all latinos are unique because you get to speak 2 languages. Some latinos only speak spanish.You get to see different performances and dances like "Tango", "Salsa" , and "Merengue". I like being "Latino Proud" of my heritage!

I'm Latina proud we have many sayings like:why buy an umbrella when it is raining at the price of 9 when you can buy it when it was not raining for 3 dollars.Us Latinos love to eat spicey food.For example chile,takis,salsa,and jalepenos .We have many traditions: for example quiecenera,dias de los muertos,the three kings,and las posadadas.It is fun because you can talk two languages.

Antony age 9 I'm proud of myself because I can speak two language and I'm happy because I can speak to my parents in their language. I also love Spanish food more than American. My grandmothers live in Honduras and visit them sometimes.

Hi my name Roberto and I love being Hispanic because we get to eat Mexican food and celebrate Cinco de Mayo.I love speaking Spanish and English.Our favorite sports is soccer.and my favorite team is fc Barcelona and Real Madrid cf.I was born in the USA but I will always be Latino proud.
ReplyDeleteI'm Latina proud because my family is mexican. And the culture and heritage and traditions are unique.I'm not just latina proud just because my family is mexican or just because you get to eat all the delicious foods and candy or beverages, it's because you get to be bilingual ( be able to talk more then one language). Being bilingual is a privilege and also being latina . And one of the things I like about my culture is the typical foods and that we get to celebrate lots of holidays. And the amazing history of mexico.
